Wasn't I Joe?

AND why is Trauma on there? Not exactly a collaboration was it?

Your right on this one simonp i forgot about these tracks but i think if david remixed them they would end up sounding like manafon and they are so beautiful as they are ....

My first post was of course plain excitment just something new but then i thought afterwards what happens when they all sound like the manafon dvd when the tracks are outstanding as they are ..not that i dont like manafon for what it is but ive never listened to it since ....blemish on the other hand and the nine horses stuff i play all the time i think manafon should stay manafon

i hope the tracks are a bit different....

funny though i thought david doesnt want anything to do with the past anymore and the track The day the earth stole heaven

is on the list ....

well that just shows how david always changes his mind perhaps he will tour after all....

Yeah, some choice tracks are missing but I still think it's a good mix. Trauma is the oddball - self collaboration?

I'm not fond of remixes unless they add a new perspective to a song - I'd like it if he deconstructed the heck out the songs, blew them apart totally and put them back together in a new configuration.

Im slightly intrigued as to what sylvian actually considers a "collaboration". Given some of the tracks that are make an appearance on Sleepwalkers, any of Sylvian's solo work could've made an appearance

All I really hope for is that Exit / Delete is anchored properly by a different drummer (Jansen, perhaps?) or drum programming. I know I probably sound like a skipping record, but in my opinion, the poor drumming ruined an otherwise excellent track.
It seems logical that Sleepwalkers and The World Is Everything finally receive placement on a full blown compilation rather than fade into obscurity on a rare sampler. I suppose Trauma has been included due to it only being distributed on a Japanese import. Or perhaps there will be a remixed alternate with a collaborator on this version?
Oh, and I also hope the release of Five Lines is a precursor to the release of another collaboration with Fujikura....which also happens to include contributions from Jon Butcher...and Eddie Prevost...and its duration is around 50 minutes....
I just had to get that in there.

yeah Baht - we know... :-)
But I agree, after this in the autumn of 2010 he should release a companion cd with all the instrumental thingies of the last few years, so Mothlight and that 50 min soundpiece... He always used to release vocal and instrumental albums side by side. DBOAC and Approaching Silence; E&N and Camphor... so now Sleepwalkers and ...

I'm confused. Now, is Wonderful World the song we heard on SBS or is it a "fresh remix" Samadhi website talks about? I suspect songs like Transit, Ballad of a Deadman and Exit/Delete are as we heard them before but what about the rest? Personally, I have no problem with the tracklist. The only thing I'm missing is the studio version of Wasn't I Joe.

"The World is Everything" has to be one of his best tracks ever. Like "September" so brief and yet it feels like you lay on train tracks all day . Maybe one day we will get a retrospective with all his work we have heard exists but yet to hear. "Lilith": I heard it on a bootleg tape of a soundcheck from the '88 tour. Beautiful.

Really disappointed with this compilation.
I guess the main problem, which i assumed had been overcome, would be license clearence. But this doesnt deviate from the omission of Wasn`t I Joe ?
Perhaps we`ll get a lame excuse that the master tape was missing, like we did for Forbidden Colours being omitted from E&N
And why Wonderful World ??? That`ll be 3 Samadhi releases its been included on !!

Feelin a bit deflated about this release, as i had high hopes.
Indeed, considering we will all support the label and buy it anyway, why didnt Samadhi do a little poll, as to what we would`ve liked to have had on this compilation ???

Was there ever any corroboration that a studio version of Wasn't I Joe even exists? There is the chance that the song was written, rehearsed and performed for the express purpose of its inclusion on the Blemish tour and then was actually never followed up on as Sylvian and Jansen returned to work on what became Nine Horses.

Its true, there may not be a studio version....but it wouldnt take long to make one. Im sure all the samples etc...have been saved.
Getting out of Solo Sylvian territory....but was Under Ingrids Wheels ever recorded in a studio ???

Can i suggest that Messenger wasn't included as it is a Blonde Redhead track that David sings on rather than a co-write. Same applies to the Joan as Policewoman tracks.
For The Love Of Life I can see being difficult to license, Linoleum is a superb track but wouldn't fit the mood of the album so i can see why Pure Genius was preferred.
