So, according to his interview with The Quietus, David has three album releases on the cards:
1. Bang & Honore's Punkt poetry work
2. Duets - Joan & David
3. A new solo album
I guess it's not too hard to figure out what to expect from the first two. I imagine the first will be an extension of the poetry'n'ambience type material that B&H have already produced with David (Angels in the architecture...etc).
I'm not that familiar with Joan As Policewoman, so not too sure what to expect here. But I'd imagine it'll be similar to the Ballad of a Deadman material, and certainly more conventional than most recent output.
But as far as a solo album goes - and probably the most eagerly awaited as far as I'm concerned - I have to admit I've got absolutely no idea what to expect. He has talked about returning to more traditional songwriting for contrast, but with the album with Joan on the way, I wonder if that will be the expression of that urge?
Personally speaking, I'd be very pleased if he explored more of the improv / electro-acoustic side of things, but given his loathing of repetition, it seems more likely that he'll take a different tack again. Maybe a return to something more electronic is overdue? A very happy medium for me would be if he could produce more work with Fennesz / Brandlmayr / Dafeldecker. Or maybe he'll return to the Blemish method and work completely on his own?
Anyone care to speculate?!
