Possible/Probable meanings of the Tour Title

Talk about anything David Sylvian related.

Possible/Probable meanings of the Tour Title

The World Is Everything is part of a couple of quotes .

The world is everything that is the case

It is the opening line of a book by philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tractatus_ ... losophicus

It is also a biblical quote (I'm taking this from the internet so can't verify it)
The world is everything that holds us and satisfies us sensuously: that within us which has not known God (John 17:25).

------------------------

Sylvian likes his philosophers I think, so I would go with that one.

Anyone else?

I had wondered the same thing, and the first thing that came to mind was indeed the line by Wittgenstein.
The biblical quote is a new one to me though (it's been a long time since I read the bible in RE class!) and it's rather interesting.
I'm going to have to ponder on this for a bit longer now...
"Before you play two notes learn how to play one note - and don't play one note unless you've got a reason to play it." - Mark Hollis (1998)

I think it's way simpler than that; whereas in the past David was rather spiritual and tended to lose himself in his gurus and relationship(s), nowadays he's a bit more 'down to earth'. Also he has stated he wants to close off his past, in order to move forward musically. Having made the retrospective 'Everything and Nothing', where the title was about life and work meaning everything to you, while at the same time not meaning anything at all - my guess is he wanted to play with that; also (although it's not really a world tour), having the word 'world' in it to make clear it's a world tour. And finally, in the past few years there has been more politics in his lyrics; and us having to take care of the world, because it's all we have. just my 2 cents.
