Another tough call, but I cant ignore the rush of pleasure I get from those opening bars of 'Art of Parties', preferably played at full volume. I ADORE the middle section of 'Still Life', where Rich repeats the same phrase using a different noise, combined with Steve's unbelievably tight drumming...

And the opening bars of 'Cantonese Boy' just turn me into a walking goosebump.

Another taugh chose!! I pick Sons of Pioneers. I just love the drums at the begining, David's vocals are just great and that bass line...

Though Ghosts will always be a big favourite.I've cried many times listening to it.

I love Cantonese boy and Visions of China ,as well...this is unfair!! The entire album it's great!!!

Visions of China totally blew me away when I first heard it. Even before I got the album, I'd go online and listen to the same 30-second sample over and over. :wink:

But I also love Still Life and Sons of Pioneers. And Ghosts. And I might have picked The Art of Parties but I much prefer the single version to the album cut.

Still Life in Mobile Homes; I always liked the arrangement and the bridge, plus I love the Oil on Canvas concert footage of this song.

it's funny, but whenever Sons of Pioneers came on I used to think - 'Oh no, not the really boring track again' - but it's grown on me over the years - as has 'Ghosts' which is still NOT one of my favourites, but means more to me now I've had a few ups and downs in my life.

When you think about such young blokes writing about such thought provoking subjects you realise (again) how good they were dont you?

That is funny---I used to feel that way about both songs---and now I feel differently about them. In fact, I don't think I nearly appreciated them as much back then as I do now----you could say I took them for granted even and didnt' think every song was worth listening to --but now---omigosh it is hard to get me to listen to anything else!!!!!

you're right.....and the older you get the more you can appreciate all the different layers, both musically and emotionally.

I swear I want to be buried with a copy of Tin Drum, it means that much to me. Daft or what.

I chose Talking Drum because it was my favorite when i bought the album around the time of release.. not my favorite so much anymore, but its great to think back to those days when the quirky songs seemed much more fascinating than they actually were.

Hmm, 'Talking Drum' is my least favourite, but is quite interesting all the same.

I've said it once and I'll say it again - the remastered version is well worth it...Im currently on 'Still Life...' and I am slowly melting into a big pile of mushy mush on the floor.

This album is so good it hurts.
