As some of you may know, I have very recently developed a strong interest in the band Big Country, something I have never afforded myself the opportunity to do in the last 25 years. The reasons for this I cannot get into here other than simply stating I was stubborn and foolish. Thankfully I got over the foolish part (I can still be stubborn, lol) and allowed myself to really listen. And this weekend I had to endure the excruiciating pain of sitting here in the US while they played two dates in Glasgow and Aberdeen and not share in the excitement. My only excitement was to read the accounts and watch homemade videos of the show provided by fans. But then something happened tonight which has validated everything I have been doing in the last month or so to "catch up " on what I have missed.......
The surviving bands members themselves came to the official site and posted thank you threads to the fans for the attendence and the support. NEVER in all of my experience with band websites have I seen this occur . To see their personal, heartfelt words to us was soo refreshing and sooo encouraging.
I do believe that I have found a good thing---a good thing that was there all along and for the taking, so now I am going to take it and run with it!!!
It's a good feeling to be excited about something again after spending a couple months in disappointment.
If only all bands and artists were like this it would be a beautiful thing.
Sorry to get all melodramatic on everyone----I just believe that when you witness something remarkable, the story should be told.
