Voices raised in welcome...

Hello there,

I was wondering if anybody could help me.

To start with, I bought Oil on Canvas with the money I got for my 12th birthday and 20+ years on, it is as good as ever.

When I was 12, I'm pretty sure that I didn't think much of 'voices raised in welcome, hands held in prayer' or 'temple of dawn' but now these tunes sound beautiful.

Could anybody recommend some music that is similar to these instrumentals? I would love to explore a little.

Seconded. Also you might want to pick up Camphor. It came out a couple years after Everything and Nothing as sort of the ambient/instrumental version of it. Lots of good remixes and some new unreleased tracks.

yeah go with Proggrrl there - she just pretty much summed up every DS instrumental there is

anyway if you are looking for something in the same vein as the two tracks you mentioned the two collaborations with Holdger Czukay -
Plight and Premonition and Flux and Mutability are least likely to appeal to you (theu never did it for me personally but I havent heard them in at least a decade - so who nkows, I might like it now)

Since Temple of Dawn was written and performed by Richard, and Voices was written by David and Steve, you might want to check out some of the Jansen/Barbieri collaborative albums like Stone to Flesh, Changing Hands and Other Worlds in a Small Room - mostly instrumentals, some vocals provided by Steve. The JBK albums are good too.

I forgot to recommend Sakamoto
so many of his albums, and maybe foirst and foremost his soundtracks, are wonderful. so many beautiful instrumental tunes...

I might also recommend Harold Budd... I particularly enjoy this cd 'The Room'. I second the other ds instrumentals particularly those of the 2nd part of the Gone To Earth cd.

Agreed! Orphidice's "Love is Alive" is a top-notch ambient album in the Sylvian/Eno vein.
