I agree with Kinki!

You two are very lucky! I was just born at the wrong place at the wrong time, I guess...

Ugh, me too! And it's weird because I keep passing Deloreans on the highway recently... I swear I wanted to jump out and ask the last guy if he wanted to trade cars!

Oh are you serious! I have never seen a DeLorean upclose... I want one of those so bad, but I'm afraid I can't afford it, plus I'm not the best driver in the world so I wouldn't want to rist getting it all banged up.

I have to say... I'm so happy I was a teenager in the 80s.... It was such a great period for music and even though the fashions were definately suspect I still thought they were cool. I tried so hard to get my prom dress designed just like Molly's in Pretty in Pink.... oh the memories...

Yes, me too...Im just annoyed I was that little bit TOO young to be let out on my own to go to Japan gigs. I love the 80's with a passion and wont hear a word against the decade. Yes I know there were some VERY dodgy moments, both sartorially and politically, but I think the decade you grew up in always means so much more to you...

Not for me, I hate my decade! Someone needs to invent a time machine! The only thing good about this decade is ipods, and computers... And some of the movies are pretty good. But if I could choose, I would choose the 80's any day!

i have to agree with Kera... i wouldn't want to grow up now... i think part of it would all seem to fast and in your face. Plus all the ridiculous role models of people like britney spears and jessica simpson... I mean REALLY!

I know politcally the 80s were whatever, but i was a teenager so i obviously wasn't overly interested in anything but my own little world...LOL.

The music and movies from that era are great! I have NO idea what I would have done in life without John Hughes!

I agree with Kera in some way. I lived most of my teens in the 90's and ,although I hated boybands and all that stuff , I really enjoyed Brit Pop , and there are a lot of bands from my teens that I still love.

But, yeah ,the 80's were such a great time...and in Spain were just crazy!! I mean, the dictatorship finished in the late 70's and Democracy came in the 80's. It was a complete revolution in many aspects, social, politic, cultural and , of course, musical!!! There weren't censorship anymore for musicians, artists, writers or filmmakers. It was such an explosion of life and freedom.
Many of the people who lived it talk about it with a lot of nostalgia and a little bit of sadness, because some of them lived "too fast" and drugs or AIDS took them away. But I think it was a great time for living in Spain ^^

Well, the '80s are being relived through all of us! :-D And in some bad fashion moments... apparently leggings are all the rage again, they're all in the stores now! Not something I'd like to repeat, ha ha!

The '90s were awful... that was a bad decade to grow up in.

Yes, the 90's was a very bizarre time for me, but at least I can say I learned some things about myself, and about other people. At times I think back to that time and I hardly recognize myself. I identify more now with how I was in the 80's---kinda like embracing the things that I loved then, nostalgic I suppose.

I'm with you Anne.... the early and mid 90s were really bizarre for me too. When Princess Diana was killed it was like this big finish to a really strange era. I was supposed to move to Savannah the day the accident occurred but was unable to drive while so emotionally upset. I actually had to put it off for 2 days. I felt I had grown up with her in so many ways. God, I remember getting up early just to watch her get married.

Feel a bit guilty

Postby Art of Parties on Wed May 31, 2006 2:19 pm

I was fortunate to see Japan 23 times, which i guess makes me very old, on the last tour alone i saw them 14 times, too many nights sleeping on trains and at stations, but very fond memories, met and am still in touch with so many great people. Funny thing is that the majority are still fans - which proves form is temporary, class is permanent!!!
