I think that was their hope in making the cd. They want to make money this go around and appeal to a larger crowd... stupid them... they should stick with wanting to make great music and not trying to fit in with everyone else.

The more I listen to it the better it seems to get on some songs. I'm still in my Big Country mode so they are what I turn to, so I am not into RCM as much as I should be I guess.

I am with you Gods about the lack of everybody else----especially horns on only one song, Roger's "programmed" drumming, and JT does make some great bass work (with acoustic bass no less), but I know what you mean!!!

From the little bit I have heard of RCM, (which btw, Simon doesn't like the album being called that!!), I am not too fussed by it, - my copy is still in the air. (I am a long time Duranie so I was always going to buy a copy - even if it gathers dust like Thank You does.)

But in saying that I agree with the quote, I spend more of my time listening to David than Duran. And the sad bit, David doesn't have a new CD like Duran does.

I agree with other comments here, Duran probably do want to make money this time around - a bit of chart action wouldn't go amiss either. I hope one interviewer around 5 years from now asked the Divine One what he really thinks of RCM. When Nick doesn't appear to be selling something, he can be quite brutal and honest about things.

Oh, and I have been listening to

Peaceful Easy Feeling - The Eagles

(Can't wait to hear their new CD)

LOL that was the point in the quote. He doesn't have a new cd out and I still listen to him more than i do duran. I too am a LONG time dd fan and also will buy the cds they put out, but like you said it will collect dust on a shelf.

I agree with everything you two have said. There are definitely stronger DD albums that I go back to time and time again, and then there are the duds, but hey, you gotta have them in the collection--all a part of being a fan and being the "completist" lol.

And actually, in addition to listening to alot of Big Country and the Skids, I have been listeing to alot of David as well. My anger over the lack of US dates has subsided a bit and his music is touching me in the past month or so, which is nice. The next month or so will be sad for me(Stuart Adamson died on Dec 16th) and David's work is comforting, as well as Stuart's. :(
