Someone recently asked Nick if the Arcadia album would be re-mastered, and he said he had not heard anything planned, but it would be up to the record company.

I think to do a remastered digipak would be sweet!!!! Or better yet, a dvd/cd combination with the videos and possibly some extra material like TV appearances, etc.

I am loving all the talk of Arcadia - ah the things I went through to get that album I'm glad I got it though. I love "Goodbye is Forever" and "Flame" particularly.

I am listening to
"The Weight of the Wind" by a-ha
"Pygmalism" by Momus
"This island of blue
Where life clings to your hands
Like water and sand
Will loose it's way when you're gone"

:D Isn't it just, I am obsessed with it at the moment. I am pretty obsessed with a-ha really. I am sad at the moment because a-ha are playing the Royal Albert Hall in May and I really can't afford to see them....

I am now listening to "Les Fleurs du Mall" by Ingrid Chavez and David Sylvian....

--I love the demos of that album they planned to do together I am so sad that they weren't able to release it.

HEY! Is that right? Power Station got the re-release deal and Arcadia didn't? What the **** is that all about? :smt013 Does anyone know why? IMHO Power Station were good, but Arcadia were EXCELLENT! I wonder, do the businessmen at Sony/EMI think PS will sell better these days? Oh Boy! I'm really cheesed off now! That is just plain wrong! <Stomps off into the distance to find a Sony/EMI boss to beat the living daylights outta him ....> :smt021 "Re-release SRTR now, with a DVD of the vids plus behind scenes footage and additional material, and some art cards, and a book of the 100+ portraits taken by Denis O'Reagan, RIGHT NOW you, you (insert rude words of your choice here) ..." Ahhh, I feel a bit better now!!!

^^

I would have to say, because they had more hits, simply. Tho I agree, Arcadia was the better release and would be nice to have a remaster/reissue of it. :D

Proggrl - Excuse my ignorance on this because I was never really that interested in PS and didn't take much notice of their record sales and chart position, so did PS have more hits in the US than Arcadia, because in the UK, I think, it was pretty even between them? :?

BTW: currently listening to 9 Horses: Serotonin.

Hope you don't mind me answering this for you, and Proggrl.

Yes, PS did have more interest and airplay in the US than Arcadia did. The only song that made it to radio was "Election Day" albeit a short visit to the radio waves. I'm sure that the UK had more singles off that album than the US did. Of course MTV showed two videos---Election Day and Goodbye is Forever, that I recall seeing. The others to my knowledge they never played on the US version of MTV.

As for PS, "Some Like It Hot' was the first single, and then "Bang a Gong" and both got plenty of airplay, and still do on some radio stations with certain formats. The videos for both songs are still played on VH-1 Classic, and got plenty of play back in the day on MTV. They also toured the US which helped as well.
Shortly after this, Robert Palmer released his first solo album is several years, and it was a strong offering. Of course the exposure he got in PS helped put his name back out there, and his videos for his songs were absolute hits with the MTV audience.
Hope that helps some. I like both, but Arcadia takes the cake for me!!!!

The Promise wasn't released as a single in the US, if I am not wrong, but Goodbye is Forever and The Flame were. Then El Diablo was released as a promo single in Spain only (which makes it one of the rarest DD collectibles ever) and Keep me in the Dark was released in the same way in Phillipines.

I love all this arcadia talk too. I really don't believe The Flame was released here in the USA as a single. I also don't recal The Promise. I only remember Goodbye is forever and most assuredly Election Day. I remember when they went all around doing promotion for Election Day, goodbye got very little promotion. It really just wasn't what the US market was into at the time. If anything else was released it probably only made it to indie stations and college radio, which always played a more diverse selection of music.

I was equally into Power Station as I was Arcadia. I do believe Communication was released as a single over here but didn't chart very well if at all. My favourite song off that album being Harvest for the World. Oh how I loved being able to hear Andy sing on it. MMMMMMMMM That was quite before his solo work so I lapped up any opportunity to hear his vocals shine through.

I'm with you guys I totally want a digipak release. I would buy that in a heartbeat. I really think it would be a great release! I love that cd so much and the videos were really clever at the time. LOL

At the moment I'm listening to Deva Premal - Moola Mantra if it weren't for the sanskrit I'd think I was listening to Loreena McKennitt.
