If you guys haven't seen this film... it is a great one! If you're a true James Mcavoy fan this is a must see. The film is lovely and produced by Tom Hanks. :-) Oh and it is meant to take place in 1985 so now you understand my love of the soundtrack :-)

Haven't seen it, but I absolutely loved the book.

My current listening - Wonderful Life/Black from a wonderful 80s compilation CD I got for 50p at a jumble sale last week.

Hey, talking about Black, my dad asked me the other day if he kept making music after the 3 albums we have. Does any of you know?

I remember seeing him live in 1988, a long time ago!

that is so wild you were listening to Wonderful Life... that song is featured in Starter for 10 and is on the soundtrack.

If you see the movie and read the book you may be disappointed. Some people have commented as such. However, I have YET to read a book and then see the movie and say the movie was as good or better....

No way! What a coincidence.

I know what you mean. But, then again, some of the most disappointing films I've seen have been when they tried to stick to the book too faithfully, and ignored the fact that cinema is a totally different medium, with totally different demands. I'd imagine that there's far more you can do to establish an 80s vibe in a film than in a book.

Astronaut, you're allowed to say what you want. We may agree or disagree or not care at all, but at the end of the day: enjoy the music you enjoy - life's too short.
So if I tell you a colleague gave me a cd of all kinds of music she likes, and I am really enjoying The Beach Boys, 'Good Vibrations', then that's what I'm doing, nothing more. It won't solve any of the world's problems, but it will make me have a summery feeling. And I do feel that the more people that have a positive outlook on life, the more positive the world will become. I'm a hippy born 30 years too late... :-)

Adrian - Greetings ! Hey I wasn't seriously asking for permission or anything! But you're right - we do need a much more positive vibe in the world! Peace and lentils - Astronaut
