Last time I was around the area, which I guess must be around 2000/2001/2002, the plastic cat was there still. God bless the plastic cat. Long live the plastic cat...
Please note I wasn't making negative remarks about the people who live in SE London. Well, actually I was....ner ner ne ner ner.

And on that very grown up point, I'm off.

Tatty bye.

... err, yeeees - OK. Is it time for your medication yet Camphorvan?

Oh, yes, I nearly forgot. My second choice is Toku at the Japan Centre, on the good old Piccadilly Line. :-D

If anyone's after anything in particular, I know a bloke who can bring all his Japan vinyl etc along too. He wouldn't want to carry it around all day, so very reasonably priced ;-) and open to offers... 8)

That's a great offer... for my part I only want CDs at the moment, because I haven't got a turntable. When I DO get a turntable there will be no stopping me... until, that is, the bank stops me :-D

Don't talk to me about banks! :smt093 Humph! Well, being permanently strapped for cash means I wont be buying any vinyl for future useage - I don't possess a turntable either (in fact come to think of it I don't know anyone who does).

My boss used to have a turntable and be a DJ until her flat was broken into about 6 million times...

But I think we've been 'had over' by the music industry. In the 1990s we were told that vinyl would be phased out asap and we should replace it, pronto, with crappy un-mastered CDs. Then followed the plethora of remastered CDs, yet vinyl is still very easy to get hold of...

Don't get me started on this one...I gave away stacks of vinyl to Oxfam around that time, thinking it was obsolete. It would cost me a fortune to replace it now.

And then there were all the things I bought on crappy cassette (the sound quality of unmastered CDs may be terrible, but at least they don't wear through), because it was in the interim period, when CD players were not yet affordable but I thought it was pointless buying them on "soon-to-be-obsolete" vinyl...

Cassettes? Really...?

I frequently see Japan/Sylvian cassettes at record fairs in Manchester if anyone is indeed collecting them...

No, I didn't mean bootlegs, I meant the Alchemy cassette, for example, and I also remember seeing GTP on cassette. There is often a guy selling MiniDiscs too. I've not seen a Japan boot 'in the flesh' for a long time. I have seen DS DVD bootlegs but have resisted so far... there are a LOT of PT ones on CD though.

I have a friend that is an avid Duran collector (in fact he must have one of the biggest collections in the world). He adores cassettes because he says that they are a lot more different in their editions than records.

They certainly used to be in the 1980s, that's very true. Like the double one with both AS and OA on it - if anyone sees a copy with the S added in blue biro, because on the spine it said Obscure Alternative, it used to be mine - and Assemblage as well.
