I'd like to know what some of your favourite artists are and why you like them. Post a pic of your favourite work if you can.I'm a huge fan of Andy Goldsworthy whose work is often slated by art critics. I just love it for its simple beauty, his use of natural materials.

hmmmm very interesting topic. I'm an Art Historitian actually , so I could name dozens of artists and works from different eras and styles - I actually find anything interesting in every single movement I've studied.

I'll think about it and make a small resume later, but I'm a total Baroque obssesor - Caravaggio and Bernini are two of my all-time and absolute favourites, that's for sure.

my all time favourite artist will always be Francesca woodman. I couldn't find my favourite piece by her but i've put other choices ....




I also adore Jackson Pollock's work. Lavender Mist and blue poles being two of my favourites.

I like some of his work too. I also like Alex Gross (most), Mark Ryden (some) and Yoshitaka Amano (most) Always liked Dali. Many more.

"The Hierophant" by Alex Gross - I admire his technique and like the sense of underlying tension in this painting.



"Truck/Handful of Mud" by Amano - I love his use of color and line, how things blend and flow to draw the eye back to the focal point of the piece.

Scott Mutter...."The Escalator" is a beautiful artwork, last year, i had gotten an photo framed/ print of the artwork from ebay last year, gonna hang it back up, once renovations is finished !

Whistler's work is so inspiring on many levels, and this particular piece was so groundbreaking at the time and it remains as fresh and relevant now as it was 130+ years ago. To see Whistlers work up close is a real treat. I cant say this often enough: looking at reporoductions of works of art in books is great but nothing beats actually getting up close and seeing the real work of art itself. Some works do not photograph well and so when you do see the real thing, you see something totally new. Thank God for public galleries and museums!

I really like these works you've posted.... Especially the first. And, I couldn't agree more with you about galleries and museums... Like I told you when I finally saw a woodman piece in a museum show I started to cry... It really does just make all the difference.
