I wonder if anyone besides me knows where Bap De La Bap got his moniker from?

The Associates were and still are a class act. Billy M was a one off. And his voice was almost beyond compare.

Agreed...they were very cool. A shame it ended the way it did.

"Party Fear Two" remains one of the few songs to make me teary eyed and exhilarated at the same time.

Well spoken, that man.

I love the claustrophobia created by the production of "Club Country", too.

Both songs helped define the 80s. Wonderful.

I always feel sad when I think of Billy McKenzie - if only he'd been managed a bit better, you know?

Tragic.

Oh, and it's little known that he was Morrisey's lover - he's the "William" in The Smiths' "William, It Was Really Nothing".

Great stuff.

And its companion track by The Associates - Stephen you're really something.

My fave post associates track = Achieved in the valley of dolls (Barry Adamson's Oepdipus Schmedipus album).

But, Bap, do you have a sibling called Barm de la Barm, or Cob de la Cob?

Musically it's beautiful but I don't understand the lyrics much...
 Dave's voice is like wine to me, I don't care what he sings  hear he said f%#* once, so sweet.

Ahem, but can anyone tell me what Atom and Cell is about?
First I guess there's a prostitute, then some scenery then a drunkard and then???
I'm sorry, English is not my language and David's lyrics always take me ages to understand.
I am new here :"> And I can't speak English very well.

David and Ingrid after there split where in new york shortly before collapse of the towers...

it was cold and raining hard and they both saw a women beggar on the street and david said she looked like she was on her last legs only a plastic bag covering her up

shortely afterwards david couldnt get this women out of his mind and went back to try and help her but she was gone this song is about her.....

so you were close a beggar not a prostitute that had various unhealthy addictions.....
