Correct me if I am wrong, for I admit that I remain ignorant of most aspects dealing with Japan, but didn't Mick Karn receive quite a fair deal of attention back during the days that the band were together? Surely, he received more attention than most bassists usually did in the pop bands which were their contemporaries.

Im not sure to be honest but i think the reason was because that wasnt Mick going to be the actual lead singer of Japan and got stage fright? That might not be the reason but it was a thought

Mick was going to be the lead singer, as you say, but gave up due to stage fright way, way back in the early days of 1974! So, I don't think he was given press attention because of that but more likely because he was very interesting to look at - very flamboyant, colourful, theatrical. Also, David actively encouraged Mick to develop his stage persona in order to take attention away from him whilst he was singing.

I think David received the same amount of attention as most lead singers did back in the day. Maybe the attention was spread more evenly around Duran Duran, altho I recall only 3 of them being in the spotlight: Simon le Bon, John Taylor and Nick Rhodes. But maybe thats because I didn't really like the other two much.

Yes he is still married. Her name is Gobi and she is Thai not Japanese. They have a son called Jude. x

UK London.... in davids pic section i think theres pic of judes room with a suitcase in the background i think david stayed here by his brother as he was in london just a guess though pic called boys room
