I know we're all Japan and Sylvian obsessors, but...

Off-topic area for general discussion of NON-Japan/Sylvian related subjects.

Wash your mouth out with soap!!!!!

Songs to Remember (previous to Cupid) is an absolute classic. The others aren't bad either.

Spookily, Scritti have a new album out on Monday. they've even been doing some gigs (under the name Double G & The Traitorous three)

Sounding good too - although not helium enhanced ;-)

Heh. I was being deliberately controversial there...*snigger*, yes Songs to Remember IS good, but I also like Provision for its pure poppy sugary-ness.

Wonder what the new stuff sounds like....

mmmm, lets see...

Postby jenny taylia on Tue Jul 04, 2006 6:30 am

Bands i like are as follows;

Suede, Muse, Placebo, Duran, Depeche Mode, Bauhaus, Bowie, David Gray, Talk Talk, Bucks Fizz, Echo & the Bunnymen, Simple Minds, U2, The kinks, Blur, The Jam, Nirvana, Damian Rice, The Cult, The Cure, Aha, Tears For Fears, The Doors. I'm sure there are more but i can't think of any more at the moment.

PS - I was only joking about liking Bucks Fizz!!

What is the most embarrassing group that anyone will reluctantly admit to liking. I'll start it off with.....Abba.

embarassment

Postby jenny taylia on Tue Jul 04, 2006 10:00 am

New Kids, mmmm (only a little snigger!) Backstreets back, alright!

That reminds me that when I was really, really, really, really young I liked.....Gary Glitter. Not an artist that it's advisable to own up to having liked at this moment in time. Do I redeem myself by mentioning that the first record I ever bought was 'The Jean Geanie' by David Bowie (showing my age here)

embarassing

Postby jenny taylia on Wed Jul 05, 2006 11:04 am

Bazza Manilow - gawd, that IS a confession! LOL (with you not AT you)

Spice Girls - liked Geri Halliwell's (pervy whoops!)

Level 42 - They did some great tracks (mainly the slowies and 'Hot Water') but, yes, I also kept it quiet that I had their albums at the time. You know, go into the record store with paper bag over head to make purchase then 'hide' them in my sisters record collection...

Bauhaus were always my 2nd favourite band behind Japan and I was fortunate enough to go to their last ever concert. I think it was at the Hammersmith Palais. They did 6 enchores and I managed to lose my house key when I was in the mosh pit (or whatever it was called in those days) My family were abroad at the time and I had to climb in the upstairs bedroom window when I got home to break back in the house. It was a small window and at one point I got stuck. Just think, if I hadn't managed to free myself I mightn't have been here to tell this tale as it was at the back of the house so nobody would have spotted my a*se sticking out of that top window for days!!!

Here's a bit of a confession. I also saw Japan's last tour at the Hammersmith Odeon at about the same time but I have to say that the Bauhaus concert and NOT the Japan concert was the best EVER concert I ever went to. I expect the abuse from everyone on here to start immediately.
