I'm soooooo excited for you! I wish we went to the same school so we could strut down the halls together singing Visions of China! I would dress up as Steve and then we could go by "The Brothers Batt" and seriously push people over the edge! In fact, we could just pretend to be boys altogether. I'm thinking for my senior year, I'm going to pretend I'm from England and never stop talking in a British accent. DOES ANYBODY have a pic of DAVID wearing a DRESS? Did he really wear dresses?

Anyway, I remember Freshmen year I had major Robert Smith hair-it was black and teased out like 5 inches all around. Aah, what fun. But my favorite part of dressing up is having people confront me and not reciprocating that rude behavior. I hate it when people dress just for reactions. You see, the gangsta's at my school don't think girls should have short hair and wear make-up that is not "natural". I love just smiling and blowing them off.

Being the brother's Batt would be to COOL for school. I would love to do that! Anyway, ... Strangest thing happened to me today. A shy, emo-esque girl sneaked up beside me today after the fire drill. She said hello and I said hi. She then spoke very quietly and said "I secretly love everything about you..." I thought I had misheard her in all the ruckus, so I pushed my shades down and said "...Pardon?" She quickly responded with "Oh, I'm not stalking you or anything..." And I smiled and said thanks. We spoke about the dress code and she admired how I was able to beat it without breaking code! She also told me that she doesn't dress dresscode anywhere but school.... I thought that was pretty cool- A total stranger liked the way I looked! I guess I'm not being ridiculed by everyone after all *Smiles*

That's great Kera. I think there are always people who like you just the way you are. Probably there are more people that like your look than you think, but , you know, teenagers are always afraid of not fitting in within the rest. That's why I find so cool that this girl told you about it. :-)

I know I'm missing the point but that's my favourite part.

Either way, that's pretty neat. I'd say there are others like her out there!

I hate those unwritten rules to like everything! Everyone tells people to "Be Yourself", but you cant coz people start making jokes, and being mean. You have totally inspired me! ROCK ON!

You might've mentioned this before, but what kind of dress code does your school have?

Our school dress code is ridiculous... It's basically

All solid shirts
No logos
shirts must have a collar
Shirts must be tucked in
pants can't have too many pockets
you must wear a belt every day
pants can't touch the floor
pants can't be faded or with a design
shoes cannot have open toes or be flip flops
nothing can have a pattern or stripe
no black on black
shorts can only be worn the first and last 6 weeks of the year
hair must not be distracting or dyed unnatural colors (they can bite me)
No trench coats
no hats
no sunglasses inside
must have a coller under a hoodie or sweater
no pericings or tatoos

There is a bunch more but that's basically the jist of it... I'm perfectly in dresscode except for my hair... But they can't make me do a darn thing about it. If I get expelled for it, it will be my pleasure!!!

Wow, that's harsh! We basically weren't allowed to wear shorts above the knee or flip-flops. People broke rules everyday, though. We had a pervert for a principal so he liked girls to wear miniskirts... he was a dean at my middle school and he specifically switched jobs just to see my class graduated. :x Back then, he used to let cheerleaders sit on his lap... don't get me started...

I can sort of understand some of the rules but for the most part, they're odd.

No stripes or patterns? I can't even fathom that.
I would be irritated by the no trench coats thing. I love trench coats!

If the administration gives you guff about your hair, well... technically, it is dyed natural colours! Blonde and red, yes? They may not be your natural haircolours but they are natural nonetheless.

Your school makes me mad, ha ha!

That dresscode is ridiculous!!!!

I wore a school uniform at school , and though I hated it , I rather to wear that than to have to restrict my dress like that.

No pattern or stripes!!! I will be banned the first day since , probably, 70% of my shirts have stripes!! I just love stripes!!!

I can understand something like not to wear hats during classes or flip flops , but...how they can force you to wear a belt every day???

Fortunately , we didn't have a dresscode at highschool out of 'don't show your underwear' or something like that. And we don't have any dresscode at college. Although , I've always thought that , one thing is dressing like you want and another thing is not to have enough maturity to dress properly when you have to talk to a teacher or someone with authority. You must respect people if you want to be respected.

With a dress code like that how can anyone be different?! Do other people follow the rules?

At our school our dress code is
"NO Midrift Tee-shirts
NO Spaghetti Strap Shirts
NO Boots
NO Hats
NO Short Shorts
NO Messages to drugs, alcohol, etc."

Other than the hat and boot thing i dont own any of the mentioned articles of clothing.

Yeah, you have to follow the rules or else they crack down on you hard. Every morning they make everyone stand up and lift their arms and if their shirt tails come out of their pants they get written up. It's so strict and so pointless. I know this whole thing was started because of Columbine but is someone really gonna sneak in a gun under an untucked shirt tail??

if this truly has to do with over reaction to columbine perhaps they should worry more about the mental health of children than a dress code. There was obviously something seriously wrong with the young men who committed the crime at columbine... as well as all the other school shootings that occur.
Let me just say I was tortured so despicabely all through school that had guns been accessible to me I probably would have killed those that were so destructive to my mental health back then and then i would have killed myself. I mean I wished it upon them so many times I'm surprised that they didn't explode when i looked at them period!
Now I realize that forgiveness is necessary to live a healthy, calm, loving life.

Holy crap, who is the principal and is his last name Hitler? Jeez...............

Sorry, don't mean to offend, but just trying to emphasize how totally controlling that dress code is. They may as well require you to wear uniforms---seems easier than trying to figure out every day what to wear, and to remember what NOT to wear...........................

Heck, when I was in High School (and yes, I can remember back that far...............heehee), the only restrictions we had were:

No halter tops or tube tops
No tshirts with foul language or naughty graphics
no bare midriffs

I think they let us wear flip flops, in fact I recall now a pair I used to wear, so we definitely could. But heck, we were minutes from a beach resort community, and the school was not air conditoned, so they preferred for us to be comfortable than miserable.
