I found Blemish hard work to start with, and will not try and kid myself, that some of the Bailey tracks I don't particularly like, though they have grown on me.
But there are quite a few tracks I really like.
I love Blemish, A Fire In The Forest and The Heart Know Better especially.
I think they compare well with anything he has done.
I am finding SBS surprisingly vanilla, don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike it, but I am not sure if I am rather dissapointed after Blemish.
I was hoping for a more accessible album then Blemish, but still something rather diverse.
But it is early days with me for this album!
I have listened to the re-mixes of Blemish yet, I got that to this week, but from the samples on his website, found myself prefering the original.
I am not a great fan of remixes by another artist.
I kinda feel that the song writer has a much better understanding of the piece of music (naturally), and would have rather have heard Sylvian re-address the album himself.
It almost seems an atempt to make the album more accessible to those that disliked it, and I remember from the davidsylvian.net forum, there were loads that though it was utter crap.
That said, I have listened to this album in it's entirity, so that initial conclusion is a wee bit premature.
